What is wrong with my Japanese maple tree?
Submitted by Anonymous on 1 November 2011 - 5:08pm
The leaves of my red Japanese maple have gone crispy. Why?
Matt James says: The most likely cause is exposure to strong sunlight or high winds – Japanese maples (or acers) have fine, delicate leaves that dry out very quickly, so position your plant in a sheltered semi-shady spot. Underwatering could also cause the leaves to go crispy. Dip your fingers deep into the compost or soil regularly to check that it’s moist down by the roots.
