U Value ratings and certification

I'm looking at installing aluminium double glazing and wanted to know how I can check the U value validity of a suppliers windows.
If they claim the windows as a whole have a certain U Value how do I know they are telling the truth?
I don't want to be paying for a system that doesn't meet advertised or stated U values.
